Georgii Aleksandrovich Zavarzin

Zavarzin, Georgii Aleksandrovich

 

Born Jan. 28, 1933, in Leningrad. Soviet microbiologist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976).

Zavarzin graduated from Moscow State University in 1955. In 1961 he became a department head at the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Zavarzin’s principal works deal with the physiology and systematics of bacteria.
