Georgii Bokii

Bokii, Georgii Borisovich

 

Born Sept. 26 (Oct. 9), 1909, in Leningrad. Soviet crystallographer and crystal chemist; corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (since 1958). Member of the CPSU since 1944. Son of B. I. Bokii.

Bokii graduated from the Leningrad Mining Institute in 1930. From 1930 to 1958 he worked in the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. He taught at Moscow State University from 1939 to 1963 and became a professor in 1944. Since 1963 he has been working at the Institute of Radio Electronics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. His main works are on the crystal chemistry of complex compounds and minerals and on the history of crystallography.
