Zdanovich, Georgii Feliksovich

(pseudonym, G. Maiashvili). Born Nov. 4 (16), 1854, in Kutaisi; died there July 31 (Aug. 13), 1917. Revolutionary Narodnik (Populist) and Georgian public figure.

In late 1874 and 1875, Zdanovich was one of the leaders of the “Circle of Muscovites” (the All-Russian Social-Revolutionary Organization). He was arrested in September 1875 and sentenced at the Trial of the Fifty, in 1877, to a term of six years and eight months at hard labor. After his return from penal servitude and exile at the end of the 1880’s, Zdanovich wrote for periodical publications in the Caucasus. He was one of the ideological leaders of the Georgian party of Social Federalists.
