Uzunov, Georgi Stoianov

 

Born Sept. 28, 1904, in Is-krets, Sofia District; died June 5, 1971, in Sofia. Bulgarian psychiatrist and neuropathologist. Member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1961).

Uzunov graduated from the medical faculty of the University of Sofia in 1929. He became head of the department of neurology and psychiatry at the Higher Medical Institute in Sofia in 1954. From 1961 to 1967 he served as vice-president of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. His main works dealt with psychoses resulting from intoxications and with the clinical aspects of encephalitis.

Uzunov was a foreign member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR (1962).
