Gorgan Plain

 

southeastern part of the Caspian lowlands at the foot of the Elburz Mountains in Iran. Length approximately 80 km, width approximately 40 km. Contains anthropogenic, modern marine-argillaceous sandstone, and alluvial delta deposits. The vegetation is ephemeral, growing in meadow and salt-marsh soil. Cotton, wheat, and other crops are grown in some areas with the help of irrigation.
