fusible link

A line in a PROM or PLD chip that is designed to be blown apart to program the circuit. It functions like a fuse, which, when blown, does not conduct current. See PROM programmer and PLD.

A metal chain link made of a low-melting-point alloy; in case of fire, the chain breaks, thereby closing a damper, door, or the like.
