Gargždai

a city (until 1965 a settlement), the administrative center of Klaipeda Raion, Lithuanian SSR. Situated on the Minija River 18 km east of Klaipeda, the nearest railroad station, on the Klaipeda-Vilnius highway. The city has a building materials combine. The manufacture of metal products, including electric stoves and children’s sleds, is also carried on.
