Goor, Raymond

Born 1908, in Chatelineau. Canon; Belgian public figure.

Goor took part in the resistance movement during the fascist German occupation of Belgium; which lasted from May 1940 to September 1944. After World War II he helped initiate the social movement for security and cooperation in Europe. A recipient of the Joliot-Curie Gold Medal for Peace, Goor is a member of the secretariat of the International Committee for European Security and Cooperation, which is based in Brüssels. In 1975, Goor received the International Lenin Prize for Strengthening Peace Among Nations.
