Special Features:Site preserves the 1840s home and trading post of Métis legislator andprominent fur trader Antoine Blanc Gingras. (Métis, meaning "mixedblood" or "mixed race," is a term used by people of combined Indian andEuropean ancestry to describe themselves.) Gingras's hand-hewn oak logstore and home, which have been restored to their original appearance,are among the few tangible remains of the fur trade in the Red RiverValley.
