(glī'kō-sil-fos-fă-tī'dil-ī-os'i-tal ang'kŏr), a tether for some surface proteins to the cell membrane; these proteins are deficient in blood cells of patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria as a result in a mutation in the X-linked phosphatidylinositolglycan complementation group A gene; GPI-linked proteins are required for normal lymphocyte function and to maintain normal peripheral lymphoid homeostasis.
