gastricsin

 [gas-trik´sin] a proteolytic enzyme isolated from gastric juice; its precursor is pepsinogen but differs from pepsin in molecular weight and in the amino acid content at the N terminal.

gas·tric·sin

(gas-trik'sin), An alternative term for a human peptidase now termed pepsin C. It is present in the gastric juices of most vertebrates and exhibits a preference for hydrolysis of Tyr-Xaa bonds.

gastricsin

A gastric enzyme, EC 3.4.23.3. Gastricin was also used for peptidase (EC 3.4.4.22) which has been transferred to signal peptidase II (EC 3.4.23.36).
