Iaiva
an urban-type settlement in Perm’ Oblast, RSFSR, under the jurisdiction of the Aleksandrovsk city soviet. Iaiva is situated on the left bank of the Iaiva River. It is served by a railroad station on the Chusovskaia-Solikamsk line. Industrial enterprises include a prefabricated-housing combine, a logging and timber distribution establishment, and a state regional electric power plant. In 1978 a plant for the production of keramzit gravel (an artificial porous filler used in lightweight concretes and as an insulating material was under construction.
Iaiva
a river in Perm’ Oblast, RSFSR; a left tributary of the Kama River. The Iaiva is 304 km long and drains an area of 6,250 sq km. It rises in the Kvarkush Range and empties into the Kama Reservoir. The Iaiva is fed by mixed sources, but primarily by snow. The mean flow rate 87 km from the mouth is 88 cu m per sec. The river freezes over in the second half of October or in early November, and the ice breaks up in late April or in early May. The Iaiva is used for timber flotation and is navigable for 15 km from its mouth. The settlement of Iaiva is situated on the river.
