Iakobson, Georgii Georgievich

 

Born Jan. 19 (31), 1871, in St. Petersburg; died Nov. 23, 1926, in Leningrad. Soviet entomologist.

Iakobson graduated from the University of St. Petersburg in 1893. He joined the staff of the Zoological Museum of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences in 1896 and was a professor at the Leningrad Agricultural Institute from 1921 to 1926. He was the author of a catalog of Russian beetles. Iakobson also produced numerous studies on the systematics and classification of insects, including Coleóptera, and described many new forms.
