Iakov Koliakov
Koliakov, Iakov Efremovich
Born May 2 (14), 1895, in Kiev. Soviet microbiologist and professor (since 1940). Honored Scientist of the RSFSR since 1947. Member of the CPSU since 1919.
After graduating from the Kharkov Veterinary Institute in 1919, Koliakov engaged in practical and scientific work in the ranks of the Red Army. From 1940 through 1971 he was head of the subdepartment of microbiology of the Moscow Veterinary Academy.
Koliakov worked on many of the scientific and practical problems of such dangerous and widespread animal diseases as infectious anemia of horses, peripneumonia of cattle, and colibacteriosis of the young animal. Koliakov has been awarded the Order of Lenin, two other Orders, and various medals.
