Baryshnikova, Ekaterina Grigor’evna

 

Born Nov. 12, 1921, in the village of Ozerki, Voronezh Province. Worker, machine operator in the First State Ball-bearing Factory in Moscow. Member of the CPSU since 1943.

During the years of the Great Patriotic War, Baryshnikova organized one of the first komsomol youth brigades; in 1943 she was the initiator of a movement for the decrease in the number of workers in the brigades. By December 1943 there were 1,777 front-line komsomol youth brigades in Moscow and Moscow Oblast. Following the initiative of Baryshnikova, they freed more than 4,000 persons for the needs of the national economy. She received the State Prize of the USSR (1946). Since 1968, Baryshnikova has been a controller in the Department of Technical Control. She was awarded the Order of Lenin and medals.
