Special Features:Pioneer Mothers Memorial Forest, 88 acres of virgin old-growth walnut and oak trees; Lick Creek Settlement, site of a town established in 1820 by freed slaves and probable waystation on the Underground Railroad; Lake Monroe, Indiana's largest lake (a reservoir covering 10,750 acres) which abuts the forest's northwest corner.
