(1879–1954), Australian novelist; full name Stella Maria Sarah Miles Franklin. She wrote the first true Australian novel, My Brilliant Career (1901). She also produced a series of chronicle novels under her pseudonym ‘Brent of Bin Bin’ (1928–56).
