Definition of Haley, Alex in US English: Haley, Alexproper nounˈhālēˈhālē (1921–92), US writer; full name Alexander Murray Palmer Haley. His best-selling work Roots: The Saga of an American Family (1976) chronicled the ancestors of his African-American family.
