A mineral of the tetragonal crystal system which consists of a mixed oxide of potassium, barium, titanium, and iron, and occurs as black, rectangular prisms and plates, usually as an accessory mineral in certain igneous rocks.
Origin
1950s. From the name of Rex T. Prider, Australian geologist, who made a study of the rocks from which the first identified sample was taken + -ite.
