A type of watch designed by Cartier of Paris, with a square or rectangular face and vertical side-panels aligned with a wide strap.
Origin
1920s; earliest use found in Arizona Republican (Phoenix). Designed in 1917; the gold side-panels were held to resemble the wide tracks of the new armoured tanks.
