Origin
1920s; earliest use found in Pacific Affairs. From Momoyama, the name of a hill near Fushimi, south of Kyoto (Japanese Momoyama, lit. ‘Peach Mountain’), and of a castle built there by the daimyo Toyotomi Hideyoshi during this period, used attributively after Japanese Momoyama-jidai Momoyama age, period.
