From American Spanish (El Salvador) pupusa tortilla made with maize or rice flour and filled with pork cracklings, cheese, or other ingredients from Pipil pupu:sah (ultimately from Nahuatl popōtzoā to puff out, thicken, swell), the tortilla being so called on account of its shape. |
