A follower or supporter of James Morison or his theological views, chiefly the rejection of the Calvinist doctrine of election; a member of the Evangelical Union, an association of presbyterian and congregational churches founded by Morison (amalgamated with the Congregational Union of Scotland in 1896).

Origin
Mid 19th century. From the name of James Morison, Scottish preacher, who in 1841 was suspended from the office of minister of the (presbyterian) United Secession Church at Kilmarnock for preaching doctrines incompatible with Calvinism, and founded the Evangelical Union + -ian.
