Especially of a stem or fern frond: producing (adventitious) roots or rootlets; rooting.
Origin
Mid 18th century; earliest use found in Chambers's Cyclopaedia. From post-classical Latin radicant-, radicans rooting (although this is apparently first attested later: 1796 or earlier), use as adjective of classical Latin rādīcant-, rādīcāns, present participle of rādīcārī.
