triple harpnounA large harp without pedals, and with three rows of strings, the middle row providing sharps and flats. Also called Welsh harp.It needed a hand free for long enough to turn the necessary hooks in each octave, but it was a great deal lighter and cheaper than the triple harp....- As a matter of fact, it must be admitted, that the old triple harp is fast falling into desuetude.
- The earliest surviving triple harp is in the Museo Civico and dates back to the late 17th century.
