释义	John Newlands /ˈnjuːləndz / (1837–98), English industrial chemist; full name John Alexander Reina Newlands. He proposed a form of periodic table shortly before Dmitri Mendeleev, based on a supposed law of octaves according to which similar chemical properties recurred in every eighth element.
