From post-classical Latin arthrosis from Hellenistic Greek ἄρθρωσις compact connection, articulation (of speech) from ancient Greek ἀρθροῦν to utter distinctly, (passive) to be jointed (from ἄρθρον joint: see arthro-) + -ωσις. |
