A measure of the degree of northernness of high-latitude regions, calculated by assessing both natural factors, such as climate and temperature, and human factors, such as types of economic activity and cultural self-perception. Also (in extended use): northernness.
- Originally with reference to the work of Louis-Edmund Hamelin, who established an index of nordicity based on ten criteria in Canadian Nordicity (1978; originally in French as Nordicité Canadienne (1975))..
