释义	Oglethorpe, James /ˈōɡəlˌTHôrp / (1696–1785), British soldier and politician; full name James Edward Oglethorpe. A member of Parliament 1722–54, he received the charter for the colony of Georgia in 1732 and founded Savannah 1733. In 1742, he assured the survival of Georgia by defeating the Spanish at Bloody Marsh.
