An orange windscreen badge displayed by a disabled driver indicating that he or she is entitled to a relaxation of normal parking restrictions.
Origin
1970s; earliest use found in The Times. The orange-badge scheme was superseded in the U.K. on 1 January 2000 by a European blue-badge scheme.
