Characterized by the absence of men; (later usually) specifically inhabited only by women. Chiefly in Adamless Eden noun a place, situation, or way of life from which men are absent or excluded and which is regarded, sometimes ironically, as a type of paradise; an uninhabited region.

Late 19th century; earliest use found in William Palgrave (1826–1888), traveller and diplomatist. From the name of Adam + -less.
