Origin
Early 17th century. From French pendeloque religious medallion, probably in the form of a pendant, something which hangs from an object, little piece of crystal, piece of crystal suspended from a chandelier from pendeler to dangle + -oche, suffix forming nouns, of uncertain origin, with ending subsequently altered to -oque, perhaps after breloque.
