Any of several cockatoos of the genus Cacatua having predominantly white plumage, especially the sulphur-crested cockatoo, C. galerita, of Australia and (in later use) C. alba of Indonesia.

Mid 18th century; earliest use found in George Edwards (1694–1773), ornithologist and artist.
