A process for extracting silver and gold from molten lead by adding zinc, which forms an alloy with the precious metals that collects on the surface.
Origin
Mid 19th century. From the name of Alexander Parkes, English chemist and inventor, who patented the process in 1850 (British Pat. 13,118) + process.
