A syndrome in which there is episodic flushing accompanied by tachycardia and hypotension, often with diarrhoea, bronchospasm, fibrosis of the valves of the right side of the heart, and various other signs and symptoms, resulting from the release of serotonin from a carcinoid (typically after metastasis to the liver).
