Laurel and Hardy
/ˌlɒrəl ən ˈhɑːdi/
/ˌlɔːrəl ən ˈhɑːrdi/
- a pair of comedy film actors, Stan Laurel (1890-1965) and Oliver Hardy (1892-1957), who made over 100 long and short films together between 1926 and 1940 and formed the most successful comedy team in the history of Hollywood. Laurel, born in Britain, was the thin one and Hardy was the fat one. In their films Laurel often caused the many accidents that happened to them both, after which Hardy would get angry and say, ‘This is another fine mess you've gotten me into.’ The Laurel and Hardy Museum is in Harlem, Georgia, where Hardy was born.
