Anthony Trollope

- (1815-82) an English author of many novels, mainly about middle-class society in Victorian England. His series of six novels (1855-67) set in the imaginary county of Barsetshire are mainly about the priests and other church officials connected with a cathedral, and include the novel Barchester Towers. Another series of six novels (1864-80) involves the Palliser family and is mainly about politics and society in London. Some of Trollope's novels were made into popular television series by the BBC in the 1970s and 1980s and in 2001.
