/ˈɑːrts kaʊnsl/
- an organization in Great Britain that gives government or private money to artistic projects with the aim of encouraging the arts (= the theatre, art, music, etc.) and making them more popular. In 1994 the Arts Council of Great Britain was divided into separate councils for England, Scotland and Wales.
