Francis Chichester

- (1901-72) an English yachtsman (= sailor). In 1960 he won the first race across the Atlantic for people sailing alone in yachts (= boats with sails). He is best remembered for sailing alone round the world at the age of 65 in 1966-7. He was made a knight in 1967.
