Dorothy Hodgkin

- (1910-1994) an English scientist who did important work on the structure of crystals. She discovered the structure of penicillin (= a drug used to treat infections), vitamin B12 and insulin (= the substance that controls the sugar in blood). In 1964 she received the Nobel Prize for chemistry.
