George Burns

- (1896-1996) a US comedian who continued to perform until he was nearly 100. He was known for his large cigar, slow talk and humorous singing. He joined his wife, Gracie Allen (1906-64), on stage, in films and on radio and television. He received an Oscar as 'Best Supporting Actor' for The Sunshine Boys (1975) and played God in Oh, God!(1977) and two later films.
