- (1899-1962) a British actor who became a US citizen in 1950. His films included The Private Life of Henry VIII (1933), for which he won an Oscar, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939). He was not often given romantic parts, and described his own face as being 'like the behind of an elephant'.
