Monsanto

/mɑːnˈsæntəʊ/
- a large chemical company that was started in St Louis in 1901 and was one of the largest producers in the world of chemicals for use in farming. The products it developed include artificial sweeteners for use in food production, Agent Orange and genetically modified products, which made the company the target of protests by environmental protest groups such as Greenpeace. In 2018 Monsanto was bought by the German company, Bayer.
