- (1888-1953) a US athlete who is widely regarded as the greatest of the 20th century. He was the first to win both the decathlon and pentathlon events at the Olympic Games (in 1912). He later played professional baseball (1913-19) and professional football (1917-29). He was chosen for the Football Hall of Fame in 1963.
