- an Irish terrorist organization which believes that Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic should be united under one government. It was formed in 1974 by former members of the IRA and was responsible in 1979 for killing the Conservative politician Airey Neave. The INLA declared a ceasefire in 1998, and in 2009 it stated that it had ended the use of violence.
