- (1909-84) a US swimmer who later became a film actor. As a swimmer, he established 28 world records (= best performances) in various events and won a total of five gold medals at the Olympic Games of 1924 and 1928. He then played the role of Tarzan in several popular films of the 1930s and 1940s.
