Tammy Wynette

- (1942-98) a popular US country music singer with a strong, sad voice. Her best-known song was Stand By Your Man (1968). She was married for a time to the singer George Jones, and they often sang songs together about their difficult marriage, including D-I-V-O-R-C-E (1969), We're Gonna Hold On (1973) and Golden Rings (1976). Wynette was chosen for the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1998.
