Trans World Airlines
- a former US airline. It was established in 1930, and made its first international flight (to Paris) in 1946. In 1961 it was the first airline to show films on its planes. In 2001 the company was bought by American Airlines and the last flight under the TWA name was on December 1, 2001. In 1996 a TWA flight exploded over Long Island and all 230 people on board were killed. The cause has never been found.
