/ˈzəʊ.i.trəʊp//ˈzoʊ.i.troʊp/a device used in the past consisting of a cylinder with slits (= long, narrow holes) cut in it and a series of images drawn on the inside. When the cylinder is turned, a person looking through the slits sees the images appear to move. :
