So-called uveal melanoma -- cancer that attacks parts of the eye that contain pigment cells -- affects about 2,000 people in the United States each year.

So called uveal melanoma is very rare, with only about 2,000 new cases a year in the United States.

"Nothing has ever been shown to help patients with metastatic uveal melanoma before," he said.
